EPCOR Franchise Extension

The results of the November 2 election are in, and Surprise voters have approved an EPCOR franchise extension. This approval extends a previous 25-year agreement with EPCOR Water for an additional 25 years, allowing the company to construct, maintain and operate a potable water delivery system and a wastewater collection, treatment and disposal system throughout the city public rights-of-way. Under this agreement, EPCOR will pay a 2% franchise fee to the City. That money will go into the city’s General Fund, which pays for public safety, parks, street maintenance and more.
